The legendary design features of the Sprague have made it one of the most popular stethoscopes in history. ADC’s proprietary Adscope Sprague incorporates design features found on no other model on the market, resulting in an instrument that outperforms and outlasts the competition.
Choose a traditional two-tube or a lightweight single-tube design in dozens of color and finish options. All are backed by our five-year warranty.
Eartips
Adsoft threaded eartips compress to fit the ear canal for a better acoustic seal and extraordinary comfort.
We include a number of eartip styles to fit your personal preference.

Aural Tubes
Made from aluminum alloy for lightweight comfort, they feature a larger bore for enhanced acoustic transmission.
Headset (binaurals)
The headset includes the aural tubes, tensioning springs, and eartips. The binaurals on the Sprague series are fully adjustable to permit a truly customized, angled fit. Tension can also be adjusted; loosen by gently pulling the aural tubes apart near the base, tighten by crossing the two aural tubes and gently squeezing.

Tubing
Made from PVC, our legacy Sprague models feature a double-tube design. The two distinct sound channels provide improved stereo separation. Its extra mass improves acoustic transmission by reducing ambient noise. Tubing clips reduce incidental rubbing.
We also produce the Sprague in a single-tube design for compact portability.
Available in more than two dozen tubing colors for department color-coding or personalization.

Chestpiece
The chestpiece is the portion of the stethoscope that conducts sound. The Adscope Sprague features a convertible chestpiece with 5 fittings: an adult diaphragm, a pediatric diaphragm, and three bells (adult, pediatric, and infant). The a gasketed design enhances security and reduces acoustic leakage.
The chestpiece rotates around a valve stem to select one side or the other. When one side is selected the inactive side is closed.
ADC Sprague chestpieces are made from a plated zinc alloy for rugged durability.

Diaphragm
The diaphragm side is typically used for higher-frequency sounds. On the Sprague, we provide both adult and pediatric diaphragms. To facilitate easy replacement of worn or damaged diaphragms, we provide our exclusive chestpiece key.

Bell
The bell side is for listening to medium- and lower-frequency sounds. The Sprague comes equipped with three different bell fittings: adult, pediatric, and infant. Bells are made from PVC and are non-chill for patient comfort.

Accessories
The Sprague includes an accessory pouch containing an assortment of accessories including the three bells, spare adult and pediatric diaphragms, additional eartips, and the exclusive chestpiece key.

Which ADC Stethoscope Is Right for Me?

One of the most common, if not the most common question we get is how to choose the stethoscope that’s best for you. In general there is no one scope that’s “right” for any particular healthcare professional. It’s more of a well choreographed dance – one that balances performance, comfort, technology, budget, and style.
Not everyone needs a top-of-the line electronic or cardiology scope. And even those who could use the enhanced acoustic performance, versatility, or feature set of our finest scopes might not be able to justify the premium price. Some professionals are particularly sensitive to a scope’s weight, while others have a specific design they prefer.
I wish I could say there is a single right answer, but it really comes down to personal choice. In the end, we always suggest you test drive a few scopes and choose the model that provides the performance you need, that is comfortable for you to use and wear, and that’s within a budget that makes sense for you.
ADC scopes carry an MSRP from about $299 for our top-of-the-line Adscope 658 Electronic Stethoscope, to under $2 for a single patient use disposable scope, made entirely of plastics. With dozens of models to choose from, there’s bound to be an ADC scope that’s right for you.
We’ve taken two approaches to our recommendations: The first is a list based on your profession or the environment in which it will be used. The second is a list based on popular groupings.
Without further ado, here then is guide we’ve developed based on more than three decades of delivering the most comprehensive line of stethoscopes in the world.
