Tubing
Our PVC tubing is soft and flexible and is made without phthalates or natural rubber latex. Adscope clinician tubing provides the ideal balance of acoustic excellent and lightweight comfort. Multiple color options (more than two dozen, depending on the model) allow for personalization. Three models also feature limited-edition printed tubing as part of our Adscope LE line.
Headset (binaural/tubing)
Our clinician stethoscope headset consists of the aural tubes, eartips, tensioning springs, and tubing. The aural tubes are made from either German stainless steel for rugged durability, or aluminum alloy for lightweight comfort. Binaurals are fixed at 15° to comfortably fit the ear canal and provide a proper acoustic seal. A reinforcing yoke, at the base of the headset, improves durability and acoustic transmission. Tension can be adjusted: gently pull apart for a looser fit, gently squeeze together for a tighter fit.

Eartips
All Adscope clinician stethoscopes are built with Adsoft Plus snap-on silicone eartips for the ultimate in wearing comfort and acoustic seal. Scopes are built with our smaller size eartips on the instrument, and we include an accessory kit with one large pair and one additional small pair.

Chestpiece
The chestpiece is the portion of the stethoscope that conducts sound. On our clincian models, the chestpiece may be one sided (Adscope 615, 612, 614, 618) or two sided (Adscope 608, 603, 619, 604, and 605). The flat side is known as the diaphragm for the membrane used to conduct sounds. The more concave side is called the bell. On two-sided models, the chestpiece rotates around a valve stem that “activates” the selected side (while closing off sound to the inactive side). ADC clinician chestpieces can be made from stainless steel or zinc alloy for rugged durability, or aluminum alloy for lightweight comfort. Clinician models are available in adult, pediatric, and infant sizes.

Diaphragm
The diaphragm side is typically used for higher-frequency sounds. Nearly all clinician models feature our tunable diaphragm with Adjustable Frequency Design (AFD) technology.
AFD allows you to detect a much wider range of frequencies by altering pressure. Diaphragms are held securely in place with a non-chill rim for patient comfort.

Adscope clinician stethoscopes are the most feature-rich, precision crafted professional line of scopes on the market. ADC offers ten clinician models in our Adscope line, with styling for both adult and pediatric patients. All are individually acoustic tested in the USA, and all offer a lifetime warranty and free parts forever.
Bell
The bell side is for listening to medium- or lower-frequency sounds. A non-chill bell ring around the perimeter provides patient comfort. The 603, 604, 605, 608, and 619 all feature a two-sided chestpiece with a diaphragm and a bell. On the Convertible 608, the bell can be removed and replaced with a pediatric diaphragm featuring AFD technology for enhanced versatility.

Which ADC Stethoscope Is Right for Me?

One of the most common, if not the most common question we get is how to choose the stethoscope that’s best for you. In general there is no one scope that’s “right” for any particular healthcare professional. It’s more of a well choreographed dance – one that balances performance, comfort, technology, budget, and style.
Not everyone needs a top-of-the line electronic or cardiology scope. And even those who could use the enhanced acoustic performance, versatility, or feature set of our finest scopes might not be able to justify the premium price. Some professionals are particularly sensitive to a scope’s weight, while others have a specific design they prefer.
I wish I could say there is a single right answer, but it really comes down to personal choice. In the end, we always suggest you test drive a few scopes and choose the model that provides the performance you need, that is comfortable for you to use and wear, and that’s within a budget that makes sense for you.
ADC scopes carry an MSRP from about $299 for our top-of-the-line Adscope 658 Electronic Stethoscope, to under $2 for a single patient use disposable scope, made entirely of plastics. With dozens of models to choose from, there’s bound to be an ADC scope that’s right for you.
We’ve taken two approaches to our recommendations: The first is a list based on your profession or the environment in which it will be used. The second is a list based on popular groupings.
Without further ado, here then is guide we’ve developed based on more than three decades of delivering the most comprehensive line of stethoscopes in the world.
